Our goal at Camp Cullen is to provide a summer camp experience rich in tradition centered on our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, while allowing campers to gain independence, a higher self-worth and lifelong, positive memories as they continue to grow as individuals and leaders.

At YMCA Camp Cullen, campers will learn new skills, develop their character and make forever friends.

Adventure Awaits
Nestled among the tall pines on 530 acres along the shores of Lake Livingston, YMCA Camp Cullen is located just 90 minutes north of Houston.

Your child is in for a week filled with enriching outdoor adventure that includes dozens of activities and specialty tracks, allowing them to choose their own activities, including horseback riding and water sports. There is a new theme each week, offering a fun and festive atmosphere for your camper’s stay.

If you’re new to the overnight camp experience, a local summer camp in Texas like YMCA Camp Cullen makes it easy for parents to prepare their child for camp, and confidently send them off for a week that they will NEVER forget.

Daily Activities

The day begins around 7 am with flag raising, a healthy breakfast and a morning show. Campers then head off to their club followed by their choice of land or water activities.

After lunch and a quick rest, campers are able to resume those same activities from the morning or pick a new one for a fun-filled afternoon.

Dinner is next, followed by cabin activities and an evening program. Each day ends with a YMCA Camp Cullen tradition, Embers. This is a nondenominational reflection on the days’ lessons around the YMCAs five core values (Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith).

We want every camper to try a new activity, discover hidden talents and strengths and make new friends while at YMCA Camp Cullen and our number one priority is providing a safe, positive camper experience.

Land Cluster Activities – Each day, our campers will have the opportunity to pick from our wide variety of land activities to participate in like Outdoor Living Skills, Fishing, Dance, Hiking, Creative Arts, Geology, Environmental Science, High Adventure, Target Sports, Athletic Sports, and more!

Adventure Courses- Challenge by choice – our ropes courses offer an unfamiliar challenge to your camper. They have the opportunity to set a goal, reach the goal, and exceed the goal. As your camper undertakes their challenge, they will grow their resilience and grit, building a new belief and confidence in themselves. Our 55-foot climbing tower, ‘tree-top’ course and zip-line join forces to be one of the most unique challenge courses in Texas.

Water Sports- YMCA Camp Cullen offers a variety of water sports that help keep your camper cool during the summer and ensure they have a blast during their week at camp. From banana boating or tubing, canoeing or sailing on Lake Livingston, to cooling off in our swimming pool, there is something for everyone. For even more thrilling adventures like wakeboarding or water skiing, campers can attend our specialty Watersports Camp.

Equestrian Activities – We want every camper to have the opportunity to visit the Equestrian center! Our younger campers will have a scheduled cabin activity to ensure they get to visit while our older campers will be able to sign up throughout the week.

Cabin Living
At the end of their day of fun, kids will come back to a clean, climate-controlled bunkhouse with their friends. Kids will feel right at home with an en-suite, individual bathroom and shower facilities. There are front and back porches complete with rocking chairs for relaxing and building relationships with their cabin mates.

Lights Out – A good night’s rest fuels a successful day of adventures. We get the kids in bed early and most will be asleep before their head hits the pillow.
