Learn New Skills And Make Forever Friends At Camp Cullen
Our goal at Camp Cullen is to provide a summer camp experience rich in tradition centered on our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, while allowing campers to gain independence, a higher self-worth and lifelong, positive memories as they continue to grow as individuals and leaders.
At YMCA Camp Cullen, campers will learn new skills, develop their character and make forever friends.
A Day at Camp Cullen Summer Camp
A typical day at camp includes time for learning new skills, teambuilding, healthy meals and of course, fun. We know that campers thrive on routine and most camp days are typically built around the same schedule so campers can quickly become comfortable with what activity is next.
The day begins around 7 am with flag raising, a healthy breakfast and a morning show. Campers then head off to their club followed by their choice of land or water activities. After lunch and a quick rest, campers are able to resume those same activities from the morning or pick a new one for a fun-filled afternoon. Dinner is next, followed by cabin activities and an evening program. Each day ends with a YMCA Camp Cullen tradition, Embers. This is a nondenominational reflection on the days’ lessons around the YMCAs five core values (Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith).
We want every camper to try a new activity, discover hidden talents and strengths and make new friends while at YMCA Camp Cullen and our number one priority is providing a safe, positive camper experience.
Daily Activities – Morning
Rise and Shine – A cabin will rise with the sun and get ready for their camp day at around 7 am. During this time, they’ll listen to a podcast that details the activities and opportunities ahead of them, get fitted in all the right gear and head out the door ready for another day of adventure!
Breakfast – A hot, nutritious breakfast fuels your camper for their day of fun. Providing a wide array of options from the main meal, to cereal bar and vegetarian options, with all dietary requirements taken care of, we’ll set your camper up for success.
Morning Meeting & Flag Raising – Morning meeting gets the body limbered up, the excitement pumping, the mind grounded and the expectations set for the day. We pay respect to the flag and then get ready to make the most of the day.
Land Cluster Activities – Each day, our campers will have the opportunity to pick from our wide variety of land activities to participate in like Arts, Science, High Adventure, Target Sports, Athletic Sports, and more!
Aquatics Cluster Activities – Each day our campers will be able to splash and play in the water. They’ll be able to pick between our Pool and Waterfront clusters with choices like Banana Boating, Sailing, Paddlesports, Wet Willie, pool time and more!
Equestrian Activities – We want every camper to have the opportunity to visit the Equestrian center! Our younger campers will have a scheduled cabin activity to ensure they get to visit while our older campers will be able to sign up throughout the week.
Clubs – After picking their top 3 choices for their club on Sunday, campers will be given their club and are able to attend their club every morning. They will gain a deeper understanding of the skills needed in the activity while building strong relationships with the other campers in the club!
Lunch – A long morning having fun will build an appetite for any camper. From the main meal, to sandwich bar, salad bar and vegetarian options, we’ll refill the stomach and make the body ready for more fun in the afternoon.
Daily Activities – Afternoon/Evening
Siesta – Everyone enjoys a nap. To beat the heat and rest before an afternoon of adventure, the campers go to their cabin to spend a precious few minutes of recovery and relaxation.
Dinner – Dinner wraps up the meals for the day, with the same structure of choice in place. Meal times at Camp Cullen are more than just the food. They are an EXPERIENCE. Cheers, songs, dance parties and competitions all bring the fun alongside the food.
Cabin Activities – The cabin group is a close group, full of potential new lifelong friendships. Each day we find time for the cabin to laugh and play together through challenges that bond them as a team.
Evening Program – Evening Program is something a little different every day. At the start of the week, these programs are dedicated to the weekly theme, and as the week progresses, they end in campfires, dance parties, ice cream, cabin time, talent shows and more.
Lights Out – A good night’s rest fuels a successful day of adventures. We get the kids in bed early and most will be asleep before their head hits the pillow.
