Preserving the Rich History of Houstonโ€™s Fire Service

The Houston Fire Museum engages, educates, and enlightens the community on the importance of fire and life safety, and preserves the history and heritage of Houstonโ€™s diverse fire service.

The Houston Fire Museum is housed in historic firehouse No. 7, an original fire station for the City of Houston. It was opened in 1899 and was an active duty fire station until 1969. The Houston Fire Museum was founded in 1982 to preserve the legacy and history of the Houston Fire Department and promote fire safety education and fire prevention in the Houston community.

We are fortunate to have an extensive collection of photographs, artifacts, archival materials, and history. Preserving and documenting the early days of firefighting in Houston is crucial.

The team at Houston Fire Museum has been working hard to preserve our extensive collection. Here we will be sharing and showcasing various photos and artifacts as we continue our work.

We also offer:

  • Birthday Parties
  • Field Trips
  • Private Events
  • Group Tours
