As we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice, the city comes alive with meaningful ceremonies, lively festivals, and plenty of ways for families to connect, explore, and celebrate together.
Houston
Family Overnight | Memorial Day Weekend

Experience the most unique family camping experience in the galaxy!
Launch your family camping trip into orbit in our Family Overnight program at Space Center Houston! You and your entire family can experience a unique overnight camping experience.
Pack your tent and set up camp under a twice-flown Falcon 9 rocket or in Independence Plaza, right underneath a Boeing 747, the shuttle carrier aircraft NASA 905, and our high-fidelity shuttle replica Independence. Prefer to cozy up indoors? All you need is a sleeping bag and a pillow to complete your campsite, surrounded by some of the rarest spaceflight artifacts on Earth.
Overnight experiences include:
- Welcome briefing in preparation for the night’s activities in the Mission Briefing Center.
- Exciting, hands-on STEM activities.
- Overnight campsite amongst historic flown space artifacts and national treasures.
- Dinner and breakfast served at Space Center Houston.
- Second-day visit to Space Center Houston.
- Outside campsites are 10-by-10 feet.

This Memorial Day, the Houston Millennials & Volunteers return for their 6th annual Flags of Honor tribute at Houston National Cemetery.
Each flag represents a life
Each name tells a story
Each placement is an act of gratitude
This is not symbolic volunteering.
This is hands in the ground.
Names spoken out loud.
Respect shown the right way.
We arrive quietly.
We work with purpose.
We leave knowing we honored them well.
Sugar Land
Memorial Day Ceremony

Time: 10:30am – 12:30pm

Each Memorial Day, we invite our community to join us as we pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.
We’ve prepared a thoughtful program featuring patriotic music performed by the Lone Star Symphony, a military flyover, speeches by distinguished speakers, a tribute to the fallen soldiers, presentations by the Sugar Land Police Department Honor Guard, and various military-related vendor booths, food trucks, and more.
Please note, parking at Memorial Park will be extremely limited. However, we are offering free shuttle services from Brazos River Park, running from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The Woodlands
Memorial Day Tribute

Time: 5pm – 9pm
Cost: Free
Memorial Day in The Woodlands event pays tribute to all military service men and women who lost their lives while serving our country. The tribute features live music, children’s activities, strolling entertainment and more. The evening ends with a fireworks display choreographed to a patriotic soundtrack.
The evening will feature a full schedule of events including live music, a keynote address, a special military ceremony, and a fireworks finale.
