Bezos Academy Free Montessori Preschool

All children deserve the great start that excellent early education provides, including in under-resourced communities. Bezos Academy aims to nurture the potential in every child to become a creative leader, original thinker, and lifelong learner by inventing the solutions needed to scale early childhood education.

Our preschools are offered at no cost to families through fully supported scholarships and public funding.

We provide programming 5 days a week, for children ages 3-5 years old.

Explore Our Program

Each child’s culture, strengths, challenges, interests, and dreams inform our program design, instructional methods, and individual goals. Our child-centered approach meets children where they are and prioritizes all areas of their development.

Preschool Hours

Bezos Academy provides full-day preschool. Bezos Academy does not offer partial week or part-time enrollment and expects families who enroll their children to commit to full-time preschool. Children should arrive by the start of instructional hours and stay until the end unless otherwise noted on the school calendar. Hours and summer programming will vary by location.

Meals

We provide a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snack to all children in our program.

Teachers and Leadership

Each Bezos Academy preschool is led by an experienced Head of School who maintains high standards, communicates clear goals, and creates a culture centered around teaching, learning, and the needs of every child and family.

Additionally, each school receives support from a Mentor Montessori Teacher or Senior Lead Teacher who ensures a high-quality Montessori practice throughout our classrooms.

All Bezos Academy teachers are licensed by the state and are trained in early childhood education. School staff also receive continuous training and development.

Curricular Framework

Our Curriculum is designed around four key areas: child centered, culturally responsive, standards-based, and Montessori-inspired. These four areas drive our decisions on what is taught in our classrooms.

Child-Centered

The child is at the center of every Curriculum decision made, and we put the needs of the child above all else.

Our Curriculum meets the child where they are and prioritizes all areas of child development. We integrate support for diverse and multilingual learners throughout the Curriculum to provide an equitable experience for all children.

Our Curriculum also encourages independence, collaboration, and joy in learning.

Culturally Responsive

Children thrive when the curriculum is engaging and personally reflective of their lived experiences. At Bezos Academy, we take time to get to know each child and family. Every child’s culture and strengths are identified and nurtured to promote student achievement and a sense of well-being.

Classroom staff create a sense of belonging by incorporating this information into their classroom environments through culturally rich stories and activities. Children also learn about the communities and cultures of their local region.

Standards-Based

Our Curriculum is aligned to research-based standards for student success. These standards allow us to track developmental milestones and inform individualized instruction. Frequently monitoring progress through observation of the whole child enables educators to focus on each individual child and create individualized learning plans based on each child’s needs.

Montessori-Inspired Approach

Core Montessori elements are the foundation of the Bezos Academy Curriculum. Our educators are trained in the Montessori Method, and each classroom has a full set of Montessori materials. The Montessori approach allows every child to develop naturally — to learn and grow at their own pace. Our Curriculum will also borrow from other pedagogies to learn, invent, and improve our ability to support every child’s development.

In our classrooms, children follow their interests and engage in hands-on activities using Montessori materials designed to meet each child’s developmental needs using scientific methods. This enhances a child’s physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and cultural development.
