We are including our now famous, bordering
on legendary, special section called ‘The Spring
and Summer Activity Guide’ in every issue of The Kid’s Directory all the way through June. This
is the definitive source for Moms and Dads planning their kid’s and family’s activities for the spring and summer months. So if you have products and/or services that could benefit from being included, we invite you to stand with all the other successful advertisers before hundreds of thousands of curious parents in the upcoming months.
WONDERFUL SPONSORED EVENTS:
The Kid’s Directory selectively sponsors and supports family events in Houston. The spring is, by far, our busiest time of year: a veritable cornucopia of family activities. We don’t sponsor or support just any event, only those that we are invited to that we think fit the needs of Houston families and our advertisers. Here’s a list of what is coming and where we, our directories, and our advertisers will be.
The 2007 Summer Camp Expo
(Feb. 17th at Katy Mills Mall)
Successful in its first year, 2006, this year promises to be even better. Booth space costs have been reduced from last year to better address the needs of the Houston market. Promotions of the event will include local newspapers, family publications, and radio. Some T.V. is also expected. Businesses that are planning a camp program and want to be part of this event should
call and talk to Celena McGuill at Katy Mills Mall
(281-644-5000). If you are a Kid’s Directory advertiser,
tell her and you will be given a discount on your booth space. We will have an area at the event where we will be greeting families. Advertisers are welcome to join us in handing out Kid’s Directories where they too can talk to families about their specific program.
The H-E-B Children's Festival
(March 31st - April 1st)
This is Houston’s largest and best family event. Last year the event drew well in excess of 110,000 people. It also enjoys tremendous corporate sponsorship from some of Houston’s most prestigious business entities. The event is held over a two day period in about a ten square block area adjacent to ‘Tinsley Park’ in downtown Houston. There are a myriad of interactive playful activities, lots of entertainment, inflatable bouncers, walls to climb, jugglers, magicians, balloonist, art spaces, wonderful food...and on and on and on. The proceeds from the event benefit Child Advocates; a local organization that provides advocacy for children caught in the bureaucratic maze of our court systems. A tremendous event sponsoring one of Houston’s most effective and honored charities, The H-E-B Children’s Festival is a definite winner. Booth information is available by calling Beth Craig at 713-553-6900.
The Kid’s Directory, as always, will have a stage and a large area set aside for interactive activities for the thousands of families wandering by. It’s appropriately called The KD Family Fun Zone. Any advertiser that wants to participate with us, please give Vanessa a call at 713-663-7555 or contact us through our web site, www.kids-houston.com. Advertisers that offer up interactive or stage activities are especially encouraged to call. Imagine all the exposure and fun you will have!!!!
Baby and Family Expo
(May 19th & 20th)
This is now Houston’s only good sized trade show event. Last year was its first year and as some of you may recall, I reviewed the event in last summer’s newsletter. It got a strong thumbs up. It was well organized and well promoted. As a consequence, the attendance was good. For more information, please contact Gina Parker-Collins at 212-499-1521.
As always, advertisers are welcome to help us in handing out Kid’s Directories from our area at the event. This would be a good opportunity for all of you to interface with your potential customers.
||SOME OTHER UPCOMING EVENTS...
ONES WE DO NOT SPONSOR:
Camp Fair 2007
This is an event sponsored by Houston Family and Memorial City Mall. A number of our advertisers attended the event last year and contacted us with good reports.
Showcase of Private Schools
& Children's Camps
We have participated in this event in past years and will likely have a presence again this year. Some of you might recall that the feedback we received from our advertisers who had booths there last year was, for the most part, unfavorable.
And then there are those events that we don’t even know about yet...well, we have an inkling about a few of them. It suffices to say that there will be more events The Kid’s Directory and our advertisers will be involved with. Check our website and/or call us for occasional updates.
What this means to all of our advertisers and prospective advertisers is that you will get a much BIGGER BANG FOR YOUR BUCK during these upcoming months. Because of the increased demand on distributions caused by our presence at these various events, The Kid’s Directory will OVERPRINT LIKE CRAZY!!!!! Additionally, the KD is, as I said earlier, the definitive planning guide for Houston families...and all families peak out their family plans in the spring and summer. So...to promote your business, school, summer program, vacation destination, camp, etc...there is no better place to be than The Kid’s Directory!
And more good news: These events afford our advertisers another benefit. Advertisers can come too!! They can interface with bunches of their prospective customers as they help us hand out Kid’s Directories. Information about their particular business may also be inserted into each of the Kid’s Directories that we hand out. Call us and we can talk about what we can do to help your business grow.
If you’re looking for something for you and the kids to do in February...you need to talk to us!! The Kid’s Directory has tickets for 4 different events in February in addition to tickets and passes to activities that are not time specific...and there
are still more to come. As has always been the case, these freebies are primarily reserved for our advertisers and their families as a kind of ‘thank you’ for their continued patronage of our publications. Soon to be advertisers and past advertisers are also encouraged to call us because we generally have enough to make most everybody happy.
Here are the events:
February 3 -- Reliant Stadium
February 10 -- Reliant Stadium
Sesame Street Live
February 8-11 -- Reliant Arena
Feb 9th & 10th -- Toyota Center
rest of season -- Toyota Center
Schlitterbahn -- for the season
As always, my heartfelt thanks to all of you for your continued support and good words: In the next newsletter, I‘ll tell you some of the stories our advertisers have shared with us. Great stuff about what a wonderful job we’ve done for their business, or school, or camp program etc.. But it’s not just about a self congratulatory pat on the back...the stories give all of us here a tremendous sense of value...that our efforts on behalf of our advertisers really do matter. So thank you for the accolades!!!
