November 2016 E-Blast

OK...OK...Let's just go ahead with dessert BEFORE dinner!cupcake
Usually, we save the 'desserts' or the 'freebies' until the end. Problem is that I tend to serve up way too much dinner so by the time the reader nears the end of the newsletter, he or she typically has had enough. They're full and end up skipping the wonderful dessert. So here you go; feast your eyes on all these goodies. One caveat; desserts are for our advertisers or soon to become advertisers. Here's a list of what's available. For descriptions and more details, call our office (713-663-7555) or go to our website at www.kids-houston.com and select Sponsored Events on our home page.

  • Texas Renaissance Festival
  • Schlitterbahn Galveston
  • Moody Gardens
  • Wings Over Houston
  • LEGO Kids Fest
  • Harlem Globetrotters
  • Disney On Ice-Dare to Dream
  • Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market
  • Main Street Theatre, Theater for Youth---Two wonderful plays
  • Improv Theatre
  • Dickens On The Strand

Now that's one heck of a dessert tray...isn't it?...such a wonderful Holiday treat!

THE HOLIDAYS ARE UPON US...already. Friday last week, I was at Costco stocking up on their wonderful meat and wine selections and as I was strolling down one of the main aisles, I was assaulted with Christmas lights, trees, varieties of Santas, ornaments and all sorts of Christmas chachkis. "O.M.G." I muttered, Christmas is still almost 3 months away!

But here I am joining the fray...

Here's What We've Got Coming Down the Pike
This Holiday Season:
Holiday Gift and Activity Guide

The Holiday Gift and Activity Guide (HGAG) will run in the November and December editions. This is the Special Section for all of our advertisers marketing to holiday retail activities, holiday camps and family outings, early school enrollments, holiday sporting programs, fund raisers and festivals...etc., etc. For many of you, this last quarter of the year offers up prime marketing and sales opportunities and we'd just like to be part of your marketing strategy.

The next two issues of the KD will also offer a unique marketing opportunity for folks who have a limited budget...it's called The Elf's Short List. It's a small ad allowing for about 4 lines of copy including your tag line. And it's an ad that we will run in all our editions or said another way, your ad will appear in approximately 100,000 publications. The cost is $55 inclusive of a 'hotlink' to your own website. You'll be in good company as well...alongside other advertisers who are also looking to maximize this upcoming Holiday season. You all will be housed in the HGAG special section.

More Bang for Your Buck for the Holiday Season
We are including our advertisers in a number of upcoming events that we are sponsoring. We will, of course, be overprinting The Kid's Directories to accommodate the anticipated crowds at each event. So advertisers will benefit from the additional distribution and too...will have an opportunity to actually join us at some of them. Here's the list:Bellaire Fire Truck Pull and Car Show

The Bellaire Fire Truck Pull and Car Show (Oct. 22nd)
A fun gathering of families in support of Special Olympics featuring a 'tug of war' with a city fire truck and a hot rod, vintage, and custom car show. For more information you can go to www.sotx.org/firetruckpull.

The 15th Annual Northwest Private School Preview (Nov. 6th)Northwest Private School Preview
A collection of private schools from Northwest Houston who present themselves to a gathering of perspective parents and kids. The participating schools cover the range from pre-school to high school and the parents in attendance offer excellent demographics for our advertisers. Remember, all of our advertisers will be there as we hand out The Kid's Directory to the incoming families. However, to find out more information on how you might participate more directly in the event, contact Angie Ramirez (angie.ramirez@cypresschristian.com).

Dickens on Cypress Creek (Nov. 18th & 19th)Dickens on Cypress Creek
An annual event...though this will be our first time sponsoring. Crowds typically number around 6,000. Some 75 booths will be set up full of crafts, collectables, clothes, etc. There will be food and entertainment as well. The KD will have a booth staffed with our team and advertisers who want to join us. We'd love to have you on board...just give us a call at the office. If you want your own presence at the event, contact www.cypresscreek.cc/dickens-market.

The Katy Turkey Dash (Thanksgiving Day--November 24th)YMCA Turkey Dash
This is the 14th year of this event. Attendance is expected to exceed 5,000...with lots of moms and pops and oodles of kids. The event is designed to cover all levels with a 5K, 10K and mile run/walk. There's also going to be a kid's race and the best post-race party ever. For more information visit their website www.ymcaturkeydash.org.

Houston Buddy Walk (Sat., Nov. 12th)Houston Buddy Walk
This is an event sponsored and benefiting the Down Syndrome Association of Houston (DSAH). Family and friends of the DSAH gather for an 'awareness walk' that will include live music, food, vendor booths, and arts and crafts. It's a win-win program; great family fun that supports a wonderful Houston organization. For more information, go to www.dsah.org or call the office and we will bring you up to speed.

And Then Farther Down the Road and Around the BendEarly Enrollment guide and Spring and Summer Activity Guide
Comes the Early Enrollment Guide and The Spring and Summer Activity Guide in January. Both sections offer up great opportunities! These are the sections that all our readers have relied upon for decades to investigate options for the next school year and to plan their kids and family events and outings for the Spring and Summer. It has become the Houston Gold Standard. Two things to mention: Remember that families plan early so you need to jump on your marketing plans as early as December but no later than January or February. Secondly, no other advertising vehicle that you can contemplate has the endurance and shelf life of The Kid's Directory. There will be more information on all of these goings on in upcoming newsletters.

In conclusion, I want to thank all of you for your continued patronage. I just hope that the dessert didn't spoil your dinner and you were able to enjoy all the food that was on your plate!
