The Holiday Gift and Activity Guide (HGAG)
It may still be 89 degrees outside but pandemonium is just around the corner with the upcoming holidays! The Kid's Directory is here to jump into the fray with our Holiday Gift and Activity Guide...but with a whole different slant.

While we have a fair number of advertisers engaged in retail, we also have an increasing number of advertisers committed to the business of building the health, wellness and skill sets of our Houston families. As such, The Kid's Directory wants to help all of our advertisers take advantage of this huge retail push that comes at this time of year. So here's our notion:

Gifts can be so much more than 'things'. Consider the importance of dance, or swimming or a summer camp in the lives of our kids. Think of the gift of music or art. How about embarking on a second language? These are the kinds of gifts that are far more enduring than a gaming station or the latest iteration of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. More importantly, these enduring gifts add substance to our children's lives. So to all current and prospective advertisers, craft your ads for November and December to market your special skills as a gift certificate under the tree or a stocking stuffer. Our art department can help!

Activities cover a huge area. There are holiday camps (we already have a good number of those coming Into The KD), holiday events and festivals (lots of those as well), babysitting and kid drop-in facilities (so Santa Mom and Dad can get in a little shopping), and of course holiday vacation destinations. If any of you advertisers can help keep our families occupied during the holidays, then The Holiday Gift and Activity Guide is where you belong. Think that time spent together as a family is the most precious gift that we can receive or give.

More Good News:
IT'S MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK TIME OF YEAR

In October:

The KD is sponsoring The Birth Fair now in its 14th year of operation. This is a small quality event that focuses on the needs of expectant and new moms. Typical attendance is around 750 people. The KD will be there handing out our publications.

Then on Oct. 21st, The KD will sponsor the PX3 Patriots vs. the Lone Survivor Foundation Warriors Series at Rice University Stadium. We will be handing out Kid's Directories there as well. They anticipate a crowd of around 15,000 folks.

On Halloween, The KD will be sponsoring The FARE Walk for Food Allergy at Minute Maid Park. We will be handing out our publications to the 3 to 4,000 people that are expected to attend.

In November:

The American Girl Fashion Show will be held at the Houston Junior League on November 14th and 15th. We will sponsor the event as we have now for the past 5 or 6 years. Kid's Directories will be handed out to the 1,500 moms, daughters and dolls expected to attend.

We will also sponsor The Clause Market, benefitting the Klein ISD, on the weekend of November 5th -7th. It will be held in Spring and they expect around 5,000 attendees. The Kid's Directory will be handed out.

The Katy Turkey Dash will be held on Thanksgiving. Some 6,000 people are expected to participate. The KD will field a runner or two and hand out scads of our books.

All these overprints just mean that all our advertisers 'get a bigger bang for their buck' because the extra distribution doesn't cost our advertisers a penny.
