Grandparents scheduled for a visit at the end of July and first of August.
Well, that about does it except for the last few weeks in August before school starts.
Now remember, this is the good scenario. There are thousands of parents out there who are just now starting to put their summer plans together. What I remember when my son was small was that despite all our best efforts to be organized, we nonetheless always found ourselves with holes that we had to fill at the last minute. It is with this in mind that we have repurposed our July edition of The Kid's Directory.
Come now to the new 'LAST BLAST OF SUMMER'
special section starting in July 2014

You might think of the new July special section as a catch-all for our readers and our advertisers alike. And the section can cover the gambit. The common thread for all of us is that this is the last shot at maximizing your success for this summer season. The ad deadline will be June 12th. Give us a call and we will make sure that you get included.
Upcoming Special Sections, Events and
Our First Price Increase in 6 Years
The Back to School and the Field Trip Guide Sections in August and September will include our once a year special distribution program where in addition to our standard distribution, we hand deliver Kid's Directories to every school senior administrator within our distribution system. That means that the KD will put our advertisers right in the hands of decision makers and those folks who counsel parents on their children's plans and programs.
There are some events coming up. Here's a short list with more to come:
- The B.I.R.T.H. Fair is an event that we have supported for 6 years. It's relatively small but a really good one.
- The Baby and Kidz Expo will make its first appearance in Houston in October. These folks have been putting on these events throughout the country for the past 10 years and seem to know what they are doing. They expect an attendance in excess of 10,000 family members.
We are sponsors of both of these events and will likely sponsor other events in the upcoming months. I will offer more details as the events come closer. Know that the good news for our advertisers is that these events mean that the KD overprints the publications to cover the increased demand. This just benefits all of our advertisers. Additionally, we look to advertisers to join us at these events to meet and greet and help us hand out The Kid's Directory and manage the booth activities.
Finally, after 6 years of holding our prices, it has come to a time of adjustment. Over the course of these 6 years, the KD has absorbed or managed increases in the cost of printing, distribution, staffing and facilities. Call it our 'containment policy.' But we are much better now--seeing economic numbers the likes of which we haven't seen in, well, about 6 or 7 years. So it is time. A modest price increase for our existing advertisers will be initiated in September. For new advertisers (defined as anyone who has not been in our publications in over a year's time), the increase will be a bit steeper and will come into effect in August, 2014.
We Have A Winner
The contest that we set up for the months of June and July,
has its first winner:
- Gentle Dental will enjoy a 3 day, 2 night stay at the Victorian Condo Hotel Resort and Conference Center located in the heart of Galveston's tourist attractions.
Sandy, in our office, pulled their name out of the hat that held all the participants.
Remember that the contest extends into July. To be eligible all you need to do is place or have a 2/3 or full page full color ad in the July edition and we will throw your name into the hat as well!
And Now for Everybody's Favorite Section....
- We have a good number of Schlitterbahn passes at all three of their locations
(Galveston, New Braunfels, and South Padre Island).
- Passes to Moody Garden's Pyramids, Imax Film Center or their Palm Beach Water Park are available.
- We have vouchers for Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey's Circus "Built to Amaze" in July.
- And then there are some walk-on passes for Tank's Paintball in Katy or Sugarland.
Thank you all for your attention and patience walking through this rather long email. Feel free to call us with any questions and always, thank you so much for being a part of The Kid's Directory family.
