The Place to Be: The KD Spring and Summer Activity Guide (SSAG)
The SSAG, now in its 22nd year, has long been known as Houston's gold standard: Scads of camps, enrichment programs and fun activities for families and kids all gathered together in one place. We were the first of the many Houston publications to do this. As a consequence, the SSAG has remained the go to place for Houston families ever since. Found within each of our 100,000 printed Kid's Directories and in all of our online publications, the SSAG starts in January and runs through the month of June. As the discussion below highlights, we do recommend that advertisers try to get in front of Houston families as early as their schedule and budget allows.
Now is absolutely the time to begin the push for enrollment into your Spring and Summer programs
Remember the funnel metaphor? Now that the Holidays are over, the very next thing on the agenda for Houston Parents is to get summer and spring plans squared away. So here's the point: Starting your enrollment push early allows you to appeal to the widest audience of potential Campers and Kiddos. The longer you wait, the skinnier or smaller the potential customer base (hence the notion of a 'funnel'). So start now and enjoy the same success that many of our advertisers have achieved, full rosters come the end of February or middle of March.
Don't forget our revamped Kamp Kids as a way of extending your reach into all the areas served by the three editions of our printed and digital publications as well as the special full page up on our website. A number of our advertisers who pull from various areas all over Houston will select one or possibly two books for their primary ad and then use the Kamp Kids informational page to expand their message to all areas that the KD touches. The price for participation runs between $45 and $55. Call us for details. It's a nice way to leverage your advertising dollar.
Events and Activities scheduled for the first of the new year
Here are a few events in the next couple of months where we will be overprinting the publications to accommodate the demand of hordes of clamoring parents. At the largest event, we encourage our advertisers to join us and meet some of their prospective customers.
Campbell Elementary Fun Run and Cougar Carnival: We expect crowds of around 3500 attendees. It's held in Sugar Land at Campbell Elementary School on the 21st of February.
Nothing is locked in for March yet, but in April we have 5 different events on the calendar with a total attendance expected of some 150,000 folks. The Big Kahuna is the McDonald's Houston Children's Festival, celebrating its 30th year in late April. This has become the largest family festival in the country bringing some 55,000 Houstonians into downtown Houston.
